Propaganda Releases Visual For His Single "Darkie"

Propaganda releases another intense visual for his single, “Darkie”. The single off of his album “Crooked”, which features Jackie Hill Perry and Micah Bournes, forces society to look at the cultural beauty standards created, and how that affects black people specifically. The video was directed by Nathan Corrona for Dustbrand Films.

The video begins with a black man, handcuffed, lying on the ground, as red and blue lights from a police car wash over his face. We also hear helicopters flying in the background. As we’re watching the man confined to the ground, the viewer is also given clips of a man dancing. The man bound to the space on the ground begins to move as well.

"The idea is that we are often shackled to constructions of beauty. But when we realize it's all in our heads, we can dance," Propaganda told Billboard, who premiered the video on their site. "You are already beautiful, and we can't let our oppression control our narrative."
