Beleaf Mel, who you may also know as Beleaf Melanin, celebrated his birthday yesterday while releasing his latest album, “In Fatherhood” and cracking the iTunes Hip Hop chart top 10. The album is currently #8 on the iTunes hip-hop charts between Logic’s “The Incredible True Story,” and Wale’s “SHINE.” The announcement of Beleaf’s final album came after he released his single “No Chill” earlier this year.
"I'm not putting out any more albums after I drop this album. This is the last one," Beleaf shared with Christian Hip Hop site Rapzilla. "It's bittersweet. Because I know that there's a lot of people out there who are doing hip hop that aren't really good or representing well, and I know that I could represent well, but that's not really the point. The point is that if I travel around the country and tell people to put their hands up for 20 minutes on a stage, that's still many hours that I'm missing outside of my home, where I'm supposed to be most present."
Before “In Fatherhood” and his YouTube channel, Beleaf in Fatherhood, Beleaf got his start with theBREAX, a hip hop group/band started in southern California with him and rapper Ruslan and MicB. Each of which were spoken word artists. Currently in San Diego, Calif. by way of Baltimore, Md., the artists album features ABIV, Tonyo Coffee, Sarah Juers, and many others.
No need to think this is the last we’ll hear from Beleaf. He plans to release singles on Patreon, a platform created for creators to maintain a sustainable income. You can also keep up with Beleaf on his YouTube channel, Beleaf in Fatherhood, which has 22,000+ subscribers up to date.
